Disappointed by London

Since I'd never been to London before, my expectations were high. The cradle of civilisation, distinguished gentlemen, order and culture...

And the result came soon enough. Landing at London Luton airport, which is so low-cost that you walk on peeling lino there, a grubby car rental where instead of the Mondeo size we'd booked they tried to push a three-door Astra on us. Unbelievably inconsiderate drivers (who on top of that always come from the other side than the one you're looking at), noise, dirt and tons of cars and buses driving right through all the monuments.
Even so, we ended up enjoying it, because in London we partied with Jeff, Mistry and Haydn and Safija. In Oxford we were shown around by an esteemed professor and his daughter, in Brighton we were amused by a stay in a little gay hotel with unbelievably \"romantic\" pink decor, and in Eastbourne we were surprised that there really is a town where the average age is three times ours :-)
The south coast is beautiful, especially the uninhabited parts.
Oxford was breathtaking with its antiquity and the fact that students have been moving around the very same spaces since the 11th century.
