Last year's climb up the Grossvenediger got us so excited about the beauty of the High Tauern that we set off to climb another glacier in the area, the gorgeous Grossvenediger – the Great Venetian, 3,666 m above sea level.

Day one

* Drive from Prague
(thanks to the buried tunnel the trip from Prague is 150 km longer)

* Hike from Matreier Tauernhaus (1515 m) to Neue Prager Hütte (New Prague Hut)
2796 m

Day two

Start at 2796 m
* Climb across the glacier to the summit of Gross Venediger 3,666
* Descent to the car park at 1515 m
By car to Prague, taking the shortcut over the High Alpine Road
